Butter-Flavored Minute’s James Bond Kickoff and Casino Royale Sweepstakes!

Just like the effects and the acting you see when you go to the movies, the butter isn’t real. It’s “butter-flavored” topping. After much research (which included asking our wife, two kids and the cat), we feel this is what you, the viewer, want in a movie review podcast: Something superficial, fast and snarky. Something that seems like the real deal, but in actuality, is just a thinly veiled excuse to turn our passion for the movies into internet fame and fortune. Also, it is a chance to use the royal “we” in situations where it is completely uncalled for.

We’ll be kicking off the podcast with a THREE WEEK LONG salute to James Bond, and EVERY NIGHT I’ll be posting a new one-minute movie “review” of a 007 film, starting with Dr. No, and following in the order of release, until we reach #22: A Quantum of Solace.

Every week during the kickoff, we’ll be giving away a copy of the Casino Royale Two-Disc Collector’s Edition on Blu-ray Disc to a lucky viewer who posts a comment on our James Bond episodes on blip.tv!

Of course, there are detailed rules below, but here’s the gist: All you gotta do is post a comment of five words or more (we’d love it if you’d comment on the film itself or our review). There will be one winner randomly selected each week for three weeks. You can only win once. We’ll announce the winner on the podcast, and then you have a week to email us to claim your prize. If you don’t claim it, we’ll give it to someone else. If no one claims it by the end of the year, we get to do whatever we want with it. It’s not our fault if anything internet-related screws up. Don’t cheat. You gotta be at least 18, and live somewhere where both the sweepstakes and the prize are okay under the laws of where you live.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This Blu-ray Disc prize is a high-definition disc and is compatible only with Blu-ray players. It will not play on a standard DVD player!

OFFICIAL SWEEPSTAKES RULES:

1. No purchase required to enter. Sweepstakes void where prohibited by law.
2. There will be three phases of the contest; The first phase starting on 2008-11-15 with the posting of the first review, Dr. No; the second phase starting 2008-11-22 with the posting of the review of Live and Let Die; the third phase starting 2008-11-29 with the posting of the review of The Living Daylights. Each phase will last approximately seven (7) days from the posting of the respective podcast which kicks it off.
3. Contest winners will be announced during the podcasts which will be posted 2008-11-22 (Live and Let Die), 2008-11-29 (The Living Daylights), and 2008-12-06 (Quantum of Solace), for the three phases, respectively.
4. To enter, you must post a comment of five words or more on the episode page for one of the video podcast episodes posted during each phase of the contest. In addition to your comment, you must also include your name and location, as a means of identifying entrants. The identifying information does not count toward your required five word comment. No responsibility is assumed by Steamer Media LLC for lost, late, or misdirected entries or any computer, online, telephone, or technical malfunctions that may occur. All entries become the property of Steamer Media LLC and will not be returned.
5. You may post as many comments as you like, but only one entry per week will count as a chance in the drawing for that week’s prize. Entrants may enter in all three phases of the sweepstakes; however, you may only win once out of all three phases. Limit one prize per person, per 30 days, regardless of the number of podcasts viewed and/or commented upon.
6. Winners must meet eligibility requirements. The eligibility requirements are: Must be 18 years of age or older, and a legal resident of a municipality or jurisdiction where this sweepstakes is not void or prohibited by law, and where shipment of the specific prize is also not prohibited by law. Employees of Steamer Media LLC, their affiliates, subsidiaries, and any person working on the product, project, or promotion, advertising and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible. Winners will be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility and compliance with the rules, and to allow the use of their names and/or photographs in future promotions.
7. Three (3) prizes in total will be awarded, each being (1) copy of the Blu-ray edition of the 2006 film “Casino Royale” starring Daniel Craig. To clarify which edition, this Blu-ray release is referred to as “Casino Royale (Two-Disc Collector’s Edition + BD Live) [Blu-ray]” on Amazon.com, and was released 2008-10-21. This prize has a value of $26.99 USD. IMPORTANT NOTICE: This prize disc is a high-definition disc and is compatible only with Blu-ray players. It will not play on a standard DVD player. No substitution, transfer, or assignment of prize permitted, except that Steamer Media LLC reserves the right to substitute a prize of equivalent value in the event the offered prize is unavailable. All taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of the prize winners. Prizes must be claimed by midnight EST, 2008-12-31.
8. Prizes will be awarded by random drawing of all eligible entries during each phase of the sweepstakes, one per phase. The winning entry for each phase will be officially announced as delineated in Rule #3, above. For informational purposes, the winner will also be posted to this blog. The winner will then need to contact sweepstakes@butterflavoredminute.com via email, giving their name and shipping address, to claim their prize. Prizes will be sent via United States Postal Service. In cases where the winner is not in the United States
9. The odds of winning depend upon the number of entrants received.
10. Entrants agree to abide by the terms of these official rules and by the decisions of Steamer Media LLC, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this sweepstakes. This sweepstakes is governed by the laws of the United States. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. Prize winners may be required to execute an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release within seven (7) days following the date of attempted notification. Non-compliance within this time period may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. Return of any prize/prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. Entrants further grant to Steamer Media LLC the right to use and publish their proper name, city and state online, in print, and in any other media in connection with the contest. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for Steamer Media LLC to use winners’ names and likenesses for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation unless prohibited by law. By entering, participants release and hold harmless Steamer Media LLC, their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability or any injuries, loss, or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this contest or any prize won.
11. If for any reason the Internet portion of the program is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Steamer Media LLC that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this contest, Steamer Media LLC reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Sweepstakes. Steamer Media LLC assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications-line failure, theft, or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Steamer Media LLC is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, or software, or for failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Steamer Media LLC on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Sweepstakes. 13. In the event of unclaimed prizes after the claim deadline of midnight EST 2008-12-31, Steamer Media LLC reserves the right to not award the prize, and to dispose of the prize as Steamer Media LLC determines, at its sole discretion.
14. In the case of delay in posting reviews during the weeks in question, contest date changes, extensions, and/or other addenda will be declared via either a post to this blog or via verbal notification within the podcast itself.
