Actually, Quantum of Solace featured the Vesper again! Not by name, but the bartender on the Virgin Atlantic flight spelled out all of the ingredients.

All I can say is that I love the direction of the new films… My other observations have already been pointed out. Excellent run of Butter Flavored minutes. I feel like I have vicariously relived the whole collection myself, and for that, I thank you.

Ahh!! Forgot to comment on the new (2006) version. Simply stated: Kicked Ass! I really like that they are building the new Bond from the ground up. Slowly polishing him over the next couple of films...

I'm glad you enjoyed the Vesper Drink, but I believe that Quantum of SOlace will start bringing back the Vodka Martini, shaken, not stirred.

Nice to see Bond back to being more physical, and more raw... brutal... very cool.

I am probably all confused now… but I believe that the DVD for the 1967 Casino Royale version actually has as a bonus feature a copy of the original Black and White TV movie which is actually similar to the 2006 version in that is kinda follows the original novel. BIg difference is that James Bond is actually and American… yup… good ole Jimmy Bond! What can I say…. Cute.

It seemed to me when I watched this movie, that they were trying to compete against Vin Diesel’s Triple X movie. The gadgetry, and over the topness was ridiculous. The only thing missing was Bond getting tattoos all over…. Maybe a big M over a barb-wired Heart or something… Never hurts to see Halle Berry, but did not actually bring much to the movie other than eye candy.

I would have to see it again to give a fair opinion. What I remember that turned me off was the un-Bond like cheesiness. Don’t get me wrong, As you have witnessed through the Moore era, there is plenty chees to go around in Bond flicks. What bugged me is that the cheese was not… appropriate? Skydiving to catch a falling plane: cheesy (As seen in GoldenEye) Skydiving for a wedding: Un-Bond like Cheese. Ripping away Camo to reveal a Tux underneath: Chee-sy!! (Live and Let Die), Jumping with a Tux into a pool to catch with the girl who is feeling lonely: Un-Freaking-Bond like Cheese!!!!! ARRRGGHH Does this Bond have no dignity???
I like cheese… but this was rotten cheese as far as I’m concerned.

First of all, YAY! Thanks for the disk!

Timothy Dalton... hmm. I have to say I really liked "The Living Daylights". I equally hated "License to Kill". To be fair I have not seen it again since it first came out. I liked the fact that they toned down the gadgetry a bit.

I agree, the main villain was a bit goofy, and the American arm-dealer goofier still.

Finally seeing an Aston martin back in a Bond flick was awesome. It was also an appropriate excuse to bring out the gadgetry.

All in all a very good Bond flick.

Okay, the yo-yo is pretty good. But Bond ordering the tiger to “sit”? As if apeing The Most Dangerous Game wasn’t bad enough.

You at least have to give credit to the circular sawblade yo-yo! As a kid I dreamt of having such a fierce yo-yo.

I kinda liked the line where the bad guy orders his muscle man, "you go out there and kiil him" (that is sort of how I remember the line, it's been many years...)

Oh! and I almost forgot! Bond ordering the tiger to sit! yeah... sure... It's Roger Moore after all.
